DIY Ombre Canvas Wall Art

This ombre canvas is really as easy as DIY can be. All you need are a few bottles of your favorite color of acrylic paint in different shades, a cheap paintbrush and a blank canvas. Let’s do this!

To make your own ombre canvas, gather the following:

  • 5-6 shades of acrylic paint in your favorite color (I chose shades of red and pink)
  • A blank canvas (the one I used was a 12×12″ from Michaels)
  • A paintbrush (it really doesn’t need to be fancy)

Got everything? Cool. Let’s move on.

Take your darkest shade of your paint and with your paintbrush, create large strokes onto one side of the canvas. Continue doing this with each paint color, going from darkest to lightest (aka “ombre”). The paint strokes don’t need to be perfect—the messier the better in my opinion.

Once you’re done with all of your colors, let the paint dry fully. This takes less than an hour, don’t worry. Be patient, young grasshopper.

As soon as the paint is dry, hang that sucker up on the wall…somewhere where it can be seen by everyone so that they can properly “oooh” and “ahhh” at your genius. (I’ll keep it our little secret on how easy it was!)

Until next time, my loves!
